the FOSSMeet 17
It was a fun-filled evening on March 10. Anivar Aravind spoke about Big Data and AI. I really liked this talk. I got to know many things about what to do and what not to do, in a production environment. Then, there was a talk by @ruphy which I did not attend.
Then, the next day I liked the talk by Sarah Masud. I understood various things about Open Source Licenses. There were various things that I was able to understand, and Sarah Masud had explained the talk in a very nice manner.
Then, in the afternoon, there was a workshop by Jishnu Mohan. Things began to fail from this point onwards. We had tried to ensure uninterrupted Network Connectivity during the event. But, from that workshop, Internet Connection was unfortunately stopped. After all the precautions that we had taken we were not able to ensure good Internet Connection.
Nevertheless, the speaker somehow managed to run the workshop without Internet Connectivity.
Then, the sun set and the evening turned into night. The Language Technology Hackathon by സ്വതന്ത്ര മലയാളം കമ്പ്യൂട്ടിങ്ങ് started with an introduction to their projects and codebase, by the SMC members.
The participants began coding by selecting the projects of their interest, and by morning approximately five merge requests were submitted to the upstream repository.
In all, it was fun organizing the event, at a scale that we had not envisioned.
